In October 1999, Virus Bulletin, a
respected international magazine on antivirus security (published in the
UK), tested antivirus scanners offered by the leading developers from all
over the world. The magazine runs such comparative reviews bimonthly. The
recent review dealt with scanners and resident monitors for Windows
98.In the latest test, Doctor Web for Windows 95/98/NT and the resident monitor (guard) SpIDer Guard for Windows 95/98 earned the prestigious "Virus Bulletin 100%" award. Antivirus programs by DialogueScience received this prize for achieving 100% detection against the "In the Wild" test-set, i.e. viruses that can be found in the real computer world.
It is the second "Virus Bulletin 100%" award Doctor Web earns for the tests run by Virus Bulletin. The first one Doctor Web received this April (see our press-release #32 dated April 29, 1999). It should be noted that it was for the first time that DialogueScience provided not only the scanner but also a resident guard program for testing. It is SpIDer Guard released in summer 1999. It was its first testing - and it showed the absolute result!
It should also be noted that Doctor Web was able to detect 100% of polymorphic infectors. In polymorphic tests, this result has become traditional for Doctor Web. The full results will be published in the November issue of Virus Bulletin.
