Design Functionality. Advanced Diskinfoscope ADinf is a sophisticated integrity checker designed for regularly tracking the changes taking place in hard disks. When a virus infiltrates, ADinf detects it by the modifications the virus introduces in the file system and/or in the boot sector of the disk and immediately alters the user for possible virus infection.

Such a detection strategy may seem inadequate, because it does not prevent viruses from infiltrating into a machine and the user is warned only after a virus attack. Unlike virus scanners, ADinf does not employ the "portraits" (signatures) of concrete viruses in its detection strategy. Therefore, ADinf is especially efficient in detecting hitherto unknown viruses for which an anti-virus is not yet available.

A particular highlight is that ADinf addresses a disk directly via BIOS without the aids of the operating system tools in order to trap the so-called invisible (stealth) viruses.

(Windows version)
If ADinf Cure Module, the curing companion of ADinf, is also installed, this tandem will not only trap viruses, but also clean the system thoroughly for infection. In Performance tests, ADinf Cure Module showed 97% killing efficiency and restored files to their preinfection status in toto.

ADinf is not a mere an anti-virus utility, it is primarily a sophisticated data integrity system, which senses even the imperceptible modifications in the files system and system areas, changes in files, newly created and deleted (sub)directories, newly created, deleted, renamed files, and files moved from one directory to another. Its pleasing interface and flexible menu system permit the user to customize ADinf to suit his convenience best.

ADinf Pro
ADinf is continuously upgraded and improved with regard for the remarks and wishes of its users. Thus, its Windows version was released in December 1996. In March 1997, a new modification, ADinf Pro, was released which checks data integrity by a 64-bit checksum based on the hashing function developed by the LAN Crypto Corporation.
